Chianti, Koramangala 5th Block, BLR

Food hunt: Day 1: 1300 hours: Bangalore, we had it pre-planned. It has to be an Italian start to the day and what other than the award winner Chianti. So, 3 famished lads travelling from Mysore, Chennai, Hyderabad and 1 Bangalore guy makes it to the spot right on time. We were welcomed with a pleasant bonhomie in the air. They have an elegant ambiance which is well lit and with outdoor sitting option as well. Also the elite wine collection adorning the shelves won’t miss your eyes. A picturesque restaurant setting. After trying to imitate Italian accent for a while with the menu we ordered our seleimg_20160325_132918339ctions. And yes the menu is in Italian.

Zonin montepulciano wine

The wait staff gracefully served the young red wine and we start with a clink. Not so much of a wine guy, but like a wine veteran we discussed its aroma, color and taste while surfing the menu for more items.

Bruschetta al pomodoro

A light start with bru’sketta. Combination of crisp bread and lush toppings. Basil, garlic brushed bread topped with tomatoes and garnished with parmesan plus olive oil.

Calamari fritti

Crisp golden calamari rings served hot on our table well within seconds. Served with French fries, these rings were crisp outside and fleshy inside with a hint of garlic.

Grigliata di verdure

Grilled veggies with parmesan cheese, some Italian herbs. By veggies we are looking at jucini, yellow pepper, broccoli & some tomatoes. Not that impressive. The only

thing good in this was the grilled half tomato.

Insalata di cesare

Insalata di cesare

It’s the Caesar salad like we know with a bit of basil. Bacon and chicken parked on the sides. It felt bland.

Pizza Del Chianti

Thin crust Italian pizza topped with mushrooms, roasted chicken, sun dried tomatoes, roasted chopped onions. I must say it was topped very generously and provided a decent push to our Italian main course.

Salmone al Griglia

Salmon always delivers an inimitable taste and this time was no exception. Served with spaghetti, the salmon was delightful.

Pollo al Ripieni

Pollo al Ripieni

Chicken stuffed with cheese and served with sautéed veggies and roasted rosemary potatoes. Chicken sliced and ready to eat. No effort. Flawless.

Lento pollo cotto

Slow cooked chicken leg, succulent and perfectly cooked covered with a slightly tangy sauce. It oozed sheer quality at first sight and did not disappoint. Served with mashed potato and some side veggies. This went right next to the salmon as the star of the day.

Piccata di pesce

Basa fish grilled with shrimp sauce and served with veggies. Average. Full stop.

Tiramisu & Torta Formaggio Di Mango

We have tried tiramisu in a quite a lot of places, but this one was something at another level. The presentation of these two deserts were picture perfect. A person will think twice before scoping the spoon over, it was indeed that beautiful. But not trying out the deserts just because it looked lovely will haunt you forever :P. Cut through top to bottom and the moment it went into our mouth, it got us swooning over its unimpeachable quality.

The deserts were sheer ambrosial and gave the perfect ending to our Italian affair.

Also to note the wait staff did quite an excellent job in doling the orders. Quick and responsive service.

Price wise, it will be bit heavy on your wallet. But, no regrets. Mama Mia!
