My time here at Bangalore has been quite charming since I came one and a half years ago. It certainly has the culinary chapter to it. At Least every other weekend has a plan where I get a chance to experience few places- eat and eke some time by. May it be catching up with old friends, meeting some acquaintances or just binge eat, there’s a cafe to suit any occasion. Here are few of them which I believe has the capability to give you an epicurean experience and is worth a mention.
TherPup ⅘
Whitefield

Menu is quite decent melange of pasta, burgers , sandwiches. Your pet ain’t gonna be empty stomach as well, they have a pet’s menu here.
We ordered a chicken burger, a chicken submarine and some nachos to binge in while watching th
Submarine was munificently stuffed. However, burger was unimpressive. That said, food is average here and price as well. But, all the animal love will fill in for them.
Here & Now ⅘
HSR
This is a house turned cafe that will make you cozy. With a genial welcome we were shown the waiting room on a Sunday afternoon as they have somewhat limited seating. Albeit, they have a waiting room with Foosball, board games and books to read through.
Known for their breakfast menu they won’t disappoint. We got a chance to dig into hash hostpotch, sunshine in a pan and few smoothies.
Hash Hostpotch as they suggested is an vegetarian extravaganza with cheese, tofu, mushroom, peas accompanied by hash browns. Melange of items dressed on a bed of lettuce.
Sunshine in a pan is a salad with a twist. Two sunny side ups severed with spinach mushroom and topped with some cheese, with an option to add chicken chunks. As you eke by the food preparation time, you can also unleash
your imagination and draw/ write something on a piece of paper that would be there on the table and some pencils.
H&N will certainly give you a checklist for all day breakfast junctions. Awaiting my next visit to try some more of their hospitality and food.
Glen’s ⅘
Indiranagar
Amid the Toit and indiranagar pub set up glen welcomes you with warm and cozy interiors . A bungalow bake house offering some irresistible delights which may make you swoon. Available with indoor and outdoor seating arrangements, this place can have a laid back vibe with lot to offer for your sweet tooth.
Starting with something green, we ordered Popeye almond soup and broccoli soup.. healthy as hell!!
Pesto sandwich was up to the expectation. It was lush crisp and smoky without being dry. Corn and spinach quiche was munificently stuffed and was certainly a delight. And since we were in a bake house, there had to be a desert.
We ended our tryst with glen’s menu with red velvet sundae. Nothing groundbreaking, but enough to give you a sudden effusive gush of so many good things. Cream, cheese cake and red velvet compliment each other very well. These only quibble about this place is the service time.. which might just be fine considering its always full.
However, this is not the only outlet they have. I have had a chance to visit Brookfield outlet as well and tried some wood oven thin crust pizza which was good enough to have a mention here and few more deserts. This one is tad more spacious though. So if you are near by don’t hesitate to indulge in some sweet tooth merriment.
Cafe Max ⅘
Indiranagar
While walking across Indiranagar we stumbled on this one. When we looked into Zomato the German cuisine tag piqued our interest and we thought to give it a try. This is a rooftop well ventilated cafe with comforting seats and well lit naturally during the day time. Not too loud music will be pleasantly welcoming as well. Under-decorated but in element as a laid back cafe set up. The menu is actually a melange of Continental delicacies starting from french crepes to pizzas and Shiniztel. You will be somewhat spoilt for choices.
We ordered smoked salmon canapes,Iceberry cappuccino, sunrise at max, watermelon slush, chicken schnitzel, and another roasted salmon.
Smoked salmon canapes: smoked Atlantic salmon served with fresh sour cream on Ragi bread. The thin salmon wrapped and placed as an inverted cone cap on top of Ragi bread. Sprinkled with herbs and side with some greens. A stark contrast of pink and green on white canvas. Well presented. Soft and smoky salmon will melt in your mouth. This is where indulgence will inexplicably explode upon you if you are a seafood lover.
Salmon Denmark style : was a grilled Atlantic salmon with sauteed potatoes and veggies. A bland European dish which can be honed in some way. However it’s not a disappointment.
Chicken Schnitzel : Chicken breast roasted with breadcrumbs topped with tomatoes cheese, served with potatoes and salsa sauce. Crispy on top and juicy inside with the cheese and tomato adding up to the flavors.
Watermelon slush was tad too sweet for a watermelon juice maybe. And “sunrise at max” failed to impress the muster.
Service was just fine and timely. Presentations will be minimal but at least few of the items in menu will not feel banal. Overall it was a good experience. However, needs few more visits to try out brunch and desserts menu. Until then…
So there you go, have a laid back Sunday and nearby some of these places? Go ahead, give them a visit.
